Recent reviews of Samsung UN65JU6500 65-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV (2015 Model):

I'm giving this TV a 5 star ranking depending on quality and price. I really think for this size, this quality, under 1,000 dollars this is a 5 star TV. I did have some issues as other users mentioned on last posts, however this has nothing to do with the two factors above that I mentioned. Yes I wasn't able to connect to my WiFi after changing the encryption technique some number of times and resetting my router and modem, however a short call to Samsung tech support and a firmware upgrade everything worked as a charm. The one thing you may want to be aware of is the SmartHub. It isn't the same as in last models so don't look for YouTube videos or old manuals. From what I understand, this new variant of the SmartHub is depending on a new operating system (Tizen) and it seems totally different. Firstly few apps were available, however every day there are new ones popping up. Netflix is available as is AmazonPrime. I'm still waiting on Skype. Also, before you talk about quality, be sure you watch a real 4K video. I have used the YouTube app to search and play 4K video samples, also as connected to my laptop that can create 4K hdmi output, and the quality is AMAZING. It also has lots less glare from my old Samsung which had a "regular" glass. This one, mounted above a fireplace, and beside a bright bay window that brings sun in all afternoon, and you still watch TV without having to shut the shades. 5 stars all the way.. .

I bought the 48" variant of the JU6500, to deal with the wifi issues the other reviewers raised, my TV came with a USB drive and information on how to update the firmware and connect to wifi. Easy, non issue. Physical look 5/5 The tv is thin, with a semi gloss screen. The tv looks better at night, however reflectivity is pretty low throughout the day with windows near the screen. The stand is sleek and minimal. There are some number of HDMI and USB ports, with optical sound output. Apps: 4/5 When I last checked there were over a dozen apps. There was no HBO Go which was disappointing. I don't know if that will be added or not. Picture Quality 4/5 When I 1st setup the tv the picture quality looked pretty mediocre. I discovered that this is caused by extraneous settings that overprocess the video. Once I adjusted the settings, bluray and over the air channels looked amazing! I'll post my settings at the end of this review. FYI, this is a 60hz panel, though I don't perceive any motion issues. Black levels and colors are great. Plus 4k content is gorgeous (netflix, youtube, amazon). Value 5/5 For 1000 you can not beat this tv. The next model up, the JU7100 is 500 more and the only really difference is it's a 120hz panel. We bought this TV after looking at it in store, from the big yellow merchant. It was convenient to do it this way because the geeks could mount it to the wall and we did not really have to fuss with that part of it. Out of the box it had firmware variant 1210. It logged right on to the wifi and literally inside minutes we were logged into our Netflix account and watching the selection of 4k UHD content. Simply amazing and worth every penny. No issues with that, afterward on in the day we signed up with DirecTV. There was a pamphlet in the box to save some money on that, so being previous DTV customers, we decided to have another go at it. There's some misunderstanding. Being a 2015 model, its not listed on DTV's web site as being a "DTV 4k Smart TV" enabled device.. They only list the 2014 models. Based on who you talk to, this is the case. No data, however tier 1 tech support says they have it on a list. Samsung's tech support says it will work good, they have it on a list also. The truth? On Firmware 1210, the RVU feature doesn't work. Its not DTVs fault, the Samsung is programmed to say "we are Sorry, This cool new feature will be available soon".. That was last week. Over the course of the week as of 6/19/15, the TV has done some firmware updates and is running variant 1218. The RVU feature works just good. To enable the RVU, you must have the TV on a wired CAT5e or CAT6 ethernet connection, connected to a DECA Broadband 2 unit. This gives a "private" network via the coax cables connected between the DECA BB2 unit, the HR44 set top box reciever, and the SWiM reciever on the satellite dish. A power injector and requisite power supplies for the HR44 and DECA BB2 are obliged. (Not Wireless as some may think).
